Contacted them again this week and had this response from one of their Gurus.
It sounds like you've been offered our current solutions to having quantity breaks on your shop. There is a feature request in for built-in quantity breaks on Shopify, so it's definitely on our radar. I've re-added your contact information to it just in case, so you'll be notified if there's any movement on that request, but I don't have a hard timeline on when or if this will be developed.
The more merchants that request this kind of thing, the more likely it will be developed! If you know any other Shopify merchants who would like this kind of feature, have them reach out to us :)
I believe they have no intention of adding this functionality as they have built up a strong app store and most likely wouldnt want to destroy their relationship with these developers. Yet that just alienates their customers like myself - who dont want to add more and more apps at 30-50 dollars a month! Plus half the apps don't work or install properly with newer themes.
